How to Diversify Your Income

This introduction session will encourage organisations to think creatively and strategically about their options for income generation, beyond grant fundraising.

Date: Monday 15 April, 2024 - 12:00 to 13:30

What is this course about?

Community organisations are more resilient if they can draw income from a variety of different sources, and reduce their reliance on grants from trusts and foundations.

We will explore the alternatives to grant fundraising, including trading, and how to establish a broad funding portfolio.

The training will include a presentation and workshop breakout sessions to enable participation, questions and peer learning.

What will you learn?

We will look at how to generate income through trading, contracting and chargeable services, identifying your organisation’s assets and communicating effectively with your service users.

Why is this session relevant or important now?

Community organisations are more resilient if they can draw income from a variety of different sources, and reduce their reliance on grants from trusts and foundations.

Grant and trust funding is harder to obtain than at any point in the past and with rising costs and demand for community organisations’ services, alternatives to provide financial sustainability are essential.

Who is this session for?

Delegates from community organisations which may be partly or wholly grant fund dependent, and have an interest in diversifying their income streams to increase their resilience.
