Unlocking social enterprise opportunities – for charities and CICs

Who is this event for?

Has your charity or CIC struggled to move beyond the world of grant fundraising? Have you been exploring trading to generate income, but are now looking to take the next leap? 

Our free event will inspire and equip you with the tools and knowledge to take your charity or CIC to the next level on your social enterprise journey. We’ll be joined by expert speakers from local charities and CICs, who will be hosting workshops on a range of themes, including income generation, marketing, finance and business planning. 

The morning will also include time for networking and a short presentation on social investment opportunities from Big Society Capital. 

Workshops 

In the 1st workshop session, you are invited to choose from: 

• Creating a sustainable income to strengthen your organisation:
  How can my organisation make the most of opportunities to trade, to reduce dependence on grants and donations? 
• Standing out from the crowd:
  How can our organisation appeal to new audiences and extend its reach?  How do we make sure our message is heard?  How might we market what we do to encourage more engagement and investment? 

In the 2nd workshop session, you are invited to choose from: 

• Finance planning for non-finance managers:
  How can I best manage our organisation’s money and track our funds? 
• Growing your charity/CIC sustainably:
  How can we develop a sustainable business model, whilst remaining true to our social mission?
